As we nonmen, ("nonmen" is just a shorter way of saying that you do not identify as a man) move through midlife and beyond, too often our culture overlooks, silences, or erases the richness of this phase. The Blooming Crone is an intimate gathering created for nonmen to slow down, witness one another, and openly explore topics that impact us deeply; death, aging, belonging, and the ways we can support ourselves and one another as we move through life's later chapters. No more than 25 attendees accepted. This event will be ON ZOOM and will NOT be recorded.
In this workshop, you will:
Learn about the dying process and the role of Advance Care planning.
Share openly about fears, belonging, and making peace with aging and death.
Participate in guided exercises rooted in Afro-indigenous cosmology to foster connection amongst participants, find yourself witnessed as well as witness others, and feel belonging.
What to Expect:
Group discussion and connection exercises
Joyful music
A safe space for reflection and sharing
A journaling exercise
Laughter and yes, some tears
An Advance Directive packet and resources for your personal planning
Resources!
What to bring:
wear soft, comfy clothing. This is not a movement class but who wants an uncomfortable bra strap or a tight pair of jeans digging in while we share deeply?
water, you can never have enough!
something cuddly for challenging conversations
Journals and pen/pencil
What not to bring:
Anyone that identifies as a man.
Anyone under the age of 18. No children please.
a MAGA hat. This is not a safe space for Trumpers.
🌷 This is a space to be heard, seen, and supported. You don’t have to have any prior knowledge of death and dying, nor do you need to have experienced a recent loss. Attending with an open heart is enough! Come as you are. You matter, you belong. Bloom with us.
(This is a non-religious, purely secular event).
